Champions Online: The Devastator

Out of the newer archetypes available, one of my favorites is The Devastator.  It's similar to the Might power set but this time you have a weapon.

I have to say this is one of the fastest Archetypes to level up.  That's because you do a lot of damage in one swipe.  Missions are faster to complete overall.

However, defense is a problem.  So, your best defense is a great offense.

Your first two powers are Bludgeon and Cleave.  They are nice damaging starter powers but nothing outstanding about them.

The power I ended up using a lot is Eruption.  With the Magama Burst Advantage you can deal fire damage in 10' sphere from your target and have a 10% chance to apply Clinging Flames.  Another great effect is the ability to knock up your opponents.  Even a Master Villain.  So worth it.

 

Since you don't get a ranged power for a very long time, you need to use a lot of Decimate to get to your enemies quicker.  So, this archetype definitely won't make you god-like.

I opted for Skewer rather than Skullcrusher at level 17.  I didn't like the knock down effect for Skullcrusher.  We'll see if I live to regret that later.

Arc of Ruin is another great power that will help you to kill a group of enemies in front of you.  Since the attributes you are building up are strength and recovery, you should have enough endurance to use Skewer or Arc of Ruin as your first strike.

You should try The Devastator especially if you are a Gold member.  Without much effort I'm now at level 26 going on 27.
